Motorola reveals Jelly Bean update schedule, eligible devices for $100 credit

Motorola has announced which Android smartphones from the company will be getting the Android 4.1 update. Company has given the timeframe for some of the devices, but for others, it will be announced on a later date.

The Motorola smartphones first in line to get the Jelly Bean update are Droid RAZR M, Droid RAZR HD, Droid RAZR MAXX HD and these will receive the update by the year-end.

“As part of our commitment to deliver the best of smartphone technology, we plan to roll out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to a number of our devices first offered in 2011 or later.* Though we are working hard to deliver that upgrade, not all of our devices will receive it,” company states on the updates page.

Other phones/tablets getting the Jelly Bean update are:

  • ATRIX HD (MB866): Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
  • PHOTON Q (XT897): Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
  • ELECTRIFY 2 (XT881): Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
  • DROID RAZR (XT912): ICS Upgrade (Android 4.0.4) rollout began in June 2012. Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
  • DROID RAZR MAXX (XT912): ICS Upgrade (Android 4.0.4) rollout began in June 2012. Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
  • DROID 4 (XT894): ICS Upgrade (Android 4.0.4) rollout began in August 2012. Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
  • DROID BIONIC (XT875): ICS Upgrade (Android 4.0.4) rollout began in October 2012. Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
  • MOTOROLA XOOM WiFi-Only (MZ604): Jelly Bean Upgrade (Android 4.1.1) rollout began in July 2012
  • MOTOROLA XOOM WiFi + 3G/LTE (MZ600/MZ602): Jelly Bean Upgrade (Android 4.1.1) rollout to begin in Q4 2012

As Motorola has earlier announced, company will be offering $100 rebate to the US smartphone owners whose device was launched in 2011 or later but is not getting Jelly Bean update, and if they upgrade to a new Motorola phone.

“In the United States, we have created a program for owners of qualifying devices that will not receive Jelly Bean. We are offering a $100 rebate when those eligible trade up to a new Motorola smartphone,” company stated on the update page.

ATRIX 4G (MB860), ATRIX 2 (MB865), PHOTON 4G (MB855), ELECTRIFY (MB853), CLIQ 2 (MB611), ADMIRAL (XT603), DROID 3 (XT862), DROID X2 (MB870), MILESTONE 3 (XT861), MILESTONE X2 (MB867), MOTOROLA XPRT (MB612), MOTOROLA TRIUMPH (WX435), MOTOROLA TITANIUM (XT800)

 

“This offer is currently available in the United States.  We plan to roll out the program to other countries over time, so stay tuned for more news,” Motorola added.
