It wasn’t long ago that we first heard about Asus’ plans to announce an Intel-powered tablet at Mobile World Congress. The supposed tablet was rumoured to be dubbed as FonePad, not so surprising name considering the tablet will have voice calling support.
Now, the Asus FonePad name has been confirmed via the appearance of the tablet on Global Certification Forum (GCF) website (more on GCF here). Asus FonePad is expected to be announced next week at Mobile World Congress 2013.
Rumours indicate the tablet will be powered by Intel Atom ME371MG processor, which is meant for entry-level products, like XOLO X500. Making it pretty certain that Asus Fonepad will be an affordable device. The tablet will also come with 7-inch IPS display with 1280x800p resolution, 1GB RAM, 3MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera, microSD card slot, 4270 mAh battery and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Online reports suggest it will be available in retail market in Q2, 2013.
