Samsung’s Galaxy S series of smartphones often tend to get a lot of press, be it rumours or leaks or exclusive insider stories, there is always a flood of reports about these smartphones. With Galaxy S5 announcement just a few months away, the reports are coming from all over these days and as you can expect a significant chunk of news reports during this period are BS.
While we weed out the most outrageous of the rumours, sometimes they are just too interesting to report. Same is the case with the latest Galaxy S5 rumour. According to a report from ZDNet Korea, Samsung is including an Iris scanner on the next Galaxy S smartphone to add security. Wow, while we are yet to get a decent implementation of fingerprint technology on an Android smartphone, people are already suggesting the inclusion of a far more complicated and expensive piece of tech in Samsung’s next flagship.
Unless Samsung is on steroids these days, we don’t really expect to see iris scanner on Galaxy S5. In addition to this unbelievable rumour, ZDNet Korea has also repeated most of the earlier rumoured specifications of the phone – QHD display (2560x1440p), 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4, and 16MP rear camera. Still no confirmation on the display size.
ZDNet Korea adds that Samsung will announce Galaxy S5 in February, which also seems to be a little off as some of the previous reports have stated that Samsung is in no hurry to release Galaxy S5 and we will only be seeing the phone around April/ May 2014.
