Non-exclusive iPhone its impact on Android

It sounds like Apple’s exclusivity deal with AT&T may be expiring soon. If true, What does this mean for Android though?

People say that one advantage for Android is that it’s not limited to only one carrier — it’s available where the iPhone isn’t, and so far, that has worked alright for it.

But do we really buy phones for OS or we buy depeding on the quality of a specific device. That way Android is also exclusive to operators on per device basis.

Droid exclusive to Verizon
G1, Magic, Pulse Exclusive to T-Mobile
similarly other devices….

So, If the non-exclusive thing happens, what do you think Android’s future looks like?
