Twidroid, Seismic, Hootsuite – Make way for official Twitter application, which has just landed in the Android Market. Twitter’s move to Android was expected, but it marks the latest twist in the ongoing rift between Twitter and the third-party developers.
The app, which is only available for devices running Android 2.1 or later, aims to make full use of the sharing feature of Android platform.
Apart from providing a widget that will show your Twiter timeline on the home-screen, the standard features, such as search, lists, geo-location, and profiles are all present. There are some nice additions too, such as in-line previews of images in your stream.
(The Twitter for Android app is available for phones running Android 2.1 and above – just scan the barcode to the right. Don’t forget, you can always visit http://mobile.twitter.com/ on your phone to use Twitter)
