Nexus One with only red display doubles battery life, but how?


One thing that has haunted Android phones now and then is the battery life. Android engineer Jeff Sharkey hs discovered an uncommon solution for that, I rather not call it a solution for consumers, but it certainly works. According to him some Android phones sport OLED displays, such as Nexus One. He attempted to improve battery life on Nexus One by turning off unnecessary sub-pixel LEDs and the results was that a blood-red screen drew 42 percent less current than full color.
