Philips ‘GoGear Connect’ Android PMP official; coming in Oct for €249

Remember earlier reports about the upcoming Philips Android portable media player. Philips today made it official on its blog and would be announcing it at the upcoming IFA in Berlin.

The new Philips GoGear Connect is powered by Android 2.1 and comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen, camera and Wi-Fi support. Detailed specifications are not yet known.

  • First WiFi-enabled MP4 player to offer the full AndroidTM experience: Enjoy the full range of Android apps, plus Android allows you to multi-task so you can listen to music, look at maps and use location-based services, all at the same time.
  • Philips FullSound technology and Surround for Movies: This winning combination allows you to immerse yourself in the action and enjoy a cinematic sound experience whilst on the go.
  • Sound isolation earphones that block out background noise and provide a superbly clear and detailed music experience even in noisy surroundings.
  • Philips Songbird: easily sync your music to your PC via Bluetooth. The player also allows you to stream audio or share files.
  • Built-in Camera to shoot videos and pictures.
  • A MicroSD card slot offering expandable memory to allow for more music, movies, and apps on the player.

Philips GoGear Connect will be available in Western Europe, USA & China from the end of October 2010. The recommended retail price is EUR249 for the 16GB version.
