After Cellular South, another US regional operator US Cellular announced an Android phone today. US Cellular will be launching HTC Desire on August 27. The smartphone will cost $199.95 with a two-year contract.
HTC Desire comes with HTC Sense on Android 2.1, 1 Ghz Processor, 3.7-inch touchscreen, five megapixel autofocus camera with flash, Wi-Fi and integrated GPS.
This is the second Android phone hitting the carrier after Samsung Acclaim, while three more Android devices – Samsung Galaxy S and two LG phones will follow in October.
HTC Desire is preloaded with U.S. Cellular applications such as My Contacts Backup, City ID, Tone Room Deluxe and Your Navigator Deluxe.
UPDATE: We just heard from US Cellular that HTC Desire will sport a Super LCD Display. This will be the first (OOPS.. second, first ones were in China) version of the smartphone to come with SLCD display panel, as before the AMOLED shortage, the smartphone featured an AMOLED screen.
