India IT services firm Mindtree is planning to enter the crowded smartphone market by launching its first smartphone in United States. Company earlier this year announced its plans to enter in cellphone business.
This smartphone, which will run on Android, will be released in the second half of this fiscal year, according to Mindtree CFO.
Company is in talks with at least one major telecom operator in US to launch the smartphone. “The hottest prospects for the phone are in the US, followed by Latin America, Europe and Canada,” Rostow Ravanan said.
Ravanan also added that the unlocked smartphone is expected to sell somewhere in the range of $300.
