TomTom maps to come pre-loaded on HTC Desire HD & Desire Z

HTC and TomTom have partnered to provide free maps and other location related content on Android phones. HTC Locations, HTC’s new mapping experience, comes preloaded with TomTom’s location-rich maps.

HTC Locations will be initially available on Desire HD and Desire Z, and will be extended to other future Android phones from HTC.

Maps and location content come preloaded on HTC Locations while turn-by-turn navigation can be purchased and downloaded through HTC Locations or HTC Sync.

I am not sure about how will it impact Google Maps on HTC devices, will HTC replace Google Maps, or TomTom maps will be an added application. As we know Google provide turn by turn free navigation in many countries, while it TomTom counterpart is still payable. So it’s better if HTC does not ditch Google.

    Concerns HTC Desire HD
I will herby inform everybody, That every external bluetooth GPS receiver works better and quicker instead of the Internal GPS antenne, you only need the APP from the Android Market, Bluetooth and GPS Fix. I wrote this message because HTC declares it does not work. I use it with free Route 66 with TomTom maps and with Sygic, it works quicker and easier. Regards Ruud Spanjerberg
