Nook Color orders getting delayed

It seems Barnes & Noble is having serious problems with their suppliers, as the company has started delaying their orders upto Feb 15. After the scraping of original Nook 3G due to supplier issues, Nook Color seems to be in the trouble too. We hope there is something good hidden in it, but that does not seem to be the case.

Anyways, find the B&N order delay mail below.

Dear ***********,

America has fallen in love with NOOKcolor.

Thank you for placing an order for NOOKcolor, the first-ever full-color Reader’s Tablet. We are experiencing a slight delay in shipment due to a supplier issue. However, we expect to ship your order on or about 02-15-2011. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. Once your NOOKcolor arrives, you’ll discover a whole new way to enjoy books – everywhere and anywhere.

Please know, you will not be charged for your order until it leaves our warehouse.

However, if you would like to cancel this portion of your order, you may do so online at: http://www.bn.com/orderstatus.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay.

I got the email above stating ship date of February 15th, but my online order status says February 27th. I ordered since January 14th of this year.

I don’t think it’s a supplier issue per se–it’s that the supplier is unable to ramp up production quickly enough to keep up with demand. Already, there have been about 1,000,000 NOOKColors made and there aren’t any reports of problems with build quality, so it’s hard to believe they have trouble making them right.

In any event, you can pick up the NOOKColor in store; most stores have a few in stock, even if they are delayed if ordered via the website.
