HTC Desire series to get Gingerbread around June

Good news: The HTC Desire and its siblings in the line-up will receive an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread!

Bad news: Users might have to face a long wait as the current Desire range won’t be updated until after the new Desire S launches in spring.

An HTC representative told CNET that the first Gingerbread update would be released within a month or two after the Desire S hits the stores. Then, the best-case scenario, therefore, is that older phones in the Desire range could receive an update by June.

HTC announced that the Desire HD and Desire Z would probably be first to get the update, as all existing Desire phones won’t receive the update all at once.
