Olive Telecom today announced that launch of India’s first Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread powered smartphone. Dubbed as Olive Smart, the smartphone will be sold under a price of INR 20,000.

Olive has not announced the availability date for the smartphone, but we expect to reach the stores pretty soon. OliveSmart packs some serious heavy specifications under a really decent price.  It features Qualcomm Snadragon MSM8255 1 Ghz processor, 4.1 inch display, 5 MP camera with a front facing camera, Android 2.3, 1400 mAh battery and HSPA+ connectivity.

Company has also partnered with Aircel to provide exclusive data offers with the smartphone. Aircel Prepaid users will get free 9 GB data to be used in three months, while Postpaid subscriber will receive 1 GB free data for six months.

At the first glance the smartphone seems to be a real winner, and we will try to confirm that in our upcoming review.

Yes Ajay u r right. No one will buy this phone at 20k,
if phone is below 15k then wont face problem. otherwise at this rate samsung galaxy SL is best in features/Specification … just Samsung is missing Flash Light .. otherwise its rocking phone at gud rates….

and if Olive Team is reading comments for marketing strategy ..then must think about Prices …

Specs didn’t tell anything about FM. X6 has FM but why olive guys choose to omit this fact from the official spacs. Any Idea?

@Santosh If I remember correctly, Huawei X6 is launched with Android 2.2 Froyo, but OliveSmart will be launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. So, along with good hardware Olive Telecom is giving a good operating system with the phone. You can also check the Olive’s website where they mentioned the same for OliveSmart V-S300

Ohh..come on!! thats the Huawei X6. Being a dedicated Android website , one would expect androidos.in to figure that out.But going back to prior announcements from Huawei itself, they were to launch it under their own brand name…?
