HCL has silently launched three Android tablets in India. Spotted this morning via a Facebook advert, these tablets are a part of its Me series.  HCL is trying to target all the budget segments with these three tablets.

HCL Me AE7-A1: Most affordable of the lot, AE7-A1 features Android 2.2, a 7 inch resistive display and 800 MHz processor. HCL has priced at INR 14, 990.  Other features of the tablet include 256MB RAM, 2GB storage and a front facing camera. You will be able to use internet on the tablet via WiFi and by connecting a USB EVDO dongle/data card.

HCL Me AM7-A1: Featuring the 3G connectivity, AM7-A1 will come with Android 2.2, 800 MHz processor and 7 inch capacitive display. HCL has priced it at INR 22,990. Other specs include 512 RAM, 8 GB Internal storage, and 1.3 MP front facing camera. Considering Samsung Galaxy Tab price has already fallen to 24K,  I don’t see many buyers for this one.

HCL Me AP10-A1: This HD ready tablet will sport 10 inch capacitive display, Android 2.2, 1 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. Company has priced AP10-A1 at INR 32,990. There is no word on Honeycomb update, but we expect that HCL pushes the update for at least AP10-A1, as it has specs to support that.

HCL has a vast network in India, and combined with marketing, I see HCL getting a decent number of sales. All the tablets are available on HCLStore.in and in HCL branded stores.

  1. HCL should have launched them with android 3.0 ..this is the reason why google is not open-sourcing 3.0..wrong use of software for wrong form-factor
