Toshiba wants to price its Honeycomb tablet in range of iPad 2

Toshiba will launch its Android tablet in Australia this May with pricing around $600 or similar to Apple iPad 2, Toshiba executive stated.

“We are confident that we can match Apple pricing for their new iPad 2 while delivering a device that is richer in features. We are currently showing retailers the device running Google’s new Honeycomb, and when we ship in May, we will have a full version of Honeycomb 3.0 running,” said Rob Wilkinson, General Manager of Toshiba Australia’s Information Systems Division (ISD).

He also added that he think the tablet could be better sold via PC channels rather via telecom carriers.

Toshiba’s yet unnamed tablet, which was showcased at MWC comes with 10.1-inch display, Android  3.0, nVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor  and 5-megapixel shooter at the back and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera.
