Considering the fact the last few days were full of rumors about Android losing its open source nature and Google is tightening its grip, and then the delay in release of Honeycomb source code, things were getting really messy for Google.
So, Android boss Andy Rubin himself came out to clear all the doubts and rumors. In a blog post today on Android Developers blog, he stated that Android continues to be an open source platform and Google will continue releasing source code when it is ready. According to him, Android team is still hard at work to bring all the new Honeycomb features to phones.
He also stated that there are no lock-downs or restrictions against customizing UIs. There are not, and never have been, any efforts to standardize the platform on any single chipset architecture.
So, I hope this is more than enough for skeptics and we all can take a sigh of relief and start waiting for next version of Android with all the Honeycomb goodness.
