HTC Sensation Vs Samsung Galaxy S II

HTC made its latest flagship Android smartphone Sensation official yesterday, and offered a potent competitor for the likes of Samsung Galaxy S2, but how do both stand against each other. We did a quick preview of both the devices for you, check out the detail below.

Display:

Samsung Galaxy S II sports a newer version of famous Super AMOLED display – Super AMOLED Plus. Display size is 4.27 inch with 480 X 800 pixel resolution, and it is indeed large for a decent smartphone, while many would like it, it might be a downside for many. Display quality has surely been praised in the initial reviews.

Coming to HTC Sensation, it also sports a large 4.3 inch display, but it’s a qHD display which comes with 540 X 960 pixel resolution and is surely a winner. It might not have the fanciness of Super AMOLED Plus, but this HD display beats SGS2 by resolution.

Processor:

From the 528 MHz processor in HTC Dream, we have reached to 1.2 GHz dual core processor today, and HTC does not want to be left behind in this category too. When other manufacturers like Samsung were launching dual core phones, HTC was silently developing another killer in Sensation.

Users will be right to answer if they really want a 1.2 GHz processor device, but HTC has given them an option. This Qualcomm MSM8260 processor is third generation Snapdragon and comes with Adreno 220 GPU.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy will come with two/three variants featuring Exynos 421 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GHz processor and nVIDIA Tegra 250 1 GHz dual core processors.  Both the processor seems at par on an average, we will know more about them after they reach for reviews and pass on some performance analysis tests.

RAM:

Samsung Galaxy S 2 wins here with 1 GB of RAM, while Sensation has only 768MB RAM, but that’s also not a small amount.

Software:

Both the smartphones come with Android 2.3 on board, and have the manufacturer UI on top, so no difference here in terms of Android version, but HTC Sense 3.0 offers a much better experience than Touchwiz.

From the specs mentioned above, galaxy s 2 looks a sure winner. Sgs 2 has better internal storage(so app2sd is nor much needed), more powerful battery, much more ram, front cam 2MP, nfc, better new looks. Htc doesn’t have any special new looks.
Rest can be said after actual performance tests.

After Nexus One, I think HTC again back to competition in mobile segments. I wonder what would be its price in India. I waited too long for Samsung Galaxy S2, and I am impressed with HTC efforts.
