Sony Ericsson Neo, Pro shipping in India from Infibeam, but officially? [Update]

Indian online retailer Infibeam is shipping Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo and Pro phones, which seem be delayed everywhere else in the world. On being inquired about the smartphones, Infibeam sticks to its stand that it is ready to fulfill all the orders and phones are in stock.

On the other hand, Sony Ericsson India is saying that Neo has been delayed till June 11 and it has not authorized Infibeam to sell these smartphones. Similar sentiments were echoed by SE Italy which is too publically stating that Neo has been delayed till Q3 due to crisis in Japan.

Coming back to Infibeam, retailer is selling Neo for INR 24,650, while Xperia Pro is going for a too-good-too-believe price of INR 14,205.

This makes Xperia Pro the first smartphone with 1Ghz processor under INR 15K bracket. It features a 3.7-inch touch screen with 854×480-pixel resolution, 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, a Sony Bravia graphics engine, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 320MB of internal memory, messaging and e-mail, an FM radio, a personal organizer, Sony Ericsson’s Timescape interface, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB syncing and mass storage, a music player, an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video recording, and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera.

Xperia Neo comes with a 3.7 inch capacitive display with 854 x 480 resolution, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and “Reality Display” with Sony Mobile Bravia Engine.

I will end by saying think twice before ordering the devices from Infibeam.

Update: Infibeam has removed both the products from its website and stopped shipping them.

Hey in starting of 2011 Infibeam had posted that Soy ericson Xperia Pro and Neo are availabe. of which Pro was at 14280 . At that time I ordered two Pro one for me and one for my friend. after 3 days we got the set deleiverd by Blue dart . But as soon as we recieved Blue dart gus told us that ur order is being cancelled by Infibeam.com. After enquiring Infibeam about this. They first replies that they send wrong model by mistake. Later on they said Sony is not launching this product in India due to eqrthquake in JAPAN and that Nuclear tragedy.
But if sony had denied of selling this product in India , then how the hell Infibeam got this product.
I must say either Infibeam is false site or this product is not in existence itself.

Don’t dream of having this in near future. Go and buy other set. whcih are available. It will never come.

    Dear Gaurav Shukla,

The information floated by you in the article dated 8th April 2011 about the pre-orders of Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro pricing on infibeam is incorrect. Today itself had had visited the website but there is no info about its pricing.

Request you not to misguide the readers, for your reference I have the print screen of the web page.

As per my research done on this handset pricing in India it is estimated to be INR 30000/-

Also want to update you; that the new xperia x10 mini pro 2 will available at the price point of INR 16k.

You are for working for the blog which people like us trust, so try to avoid such mistakes. And atleast think thrice before uploading such info.

      @Kunal

Have you read other 41 comments on the article.. read them and you will get an idea of what actually happened on Infibeam. They had listed the products, but they were taken down after 4-5 days after this story and follow up from Sony Ericsson. If you can see there are clear screenshots of the product listing along with the report.

guys i checked with couple of local(mysore) retailers one of them said neo will be available by 28 and other said it will available on 20th

on couple of forums online i saw ppl claiming that they are getting device at 23.5k

basically India is not amongst countries where launch is delayed till july
so if you are waiting for neo then you can have it before May comes

They even removed Xperia Neo, which is officially launched on Sony Ericsson site. This suggest that may be they had some words with Sony Ericsson about launching date of mobiles.

So guys can you’ll suggest some other Android around 15k? I can only find Galaxy Ace a fine option right now.

    @Sreejith:
please let us know about the status of ur order. It seems Infibeam has realized its mistake and now they have changed the status to “coming soon” and “price not available”

    aneesh

    (April 9, 2011 - 1:53 pm)

The listing went from OUT OF STOCK to being COMING SOON with a COMING SOON price. If any of your buggers got that piece for that price, goddam!

    Dear Friends,

Just now I made a call with Infibeam Team.. They are saying it’s confirm and having this product ready with them (SE Experia Pro..).. I again asked them by mistake have yu showing SE Experia Pro instead SE X10 Pro.. But the customer care executive confirmed me that it’s SE Experia Pro only…!!!. Amazing and can’t believe.. They again asking me why don’t we chose cash on delivery option too..??!!!

    (April 9, 2011 - 11:39 am)

Ok friends then whats the actual price for Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro

    Nishant

    (April 9, 2011 - 12:08 am)

They even put incorrect pricing initially for HTC Desire Z as 17k. If you search around, you’ll find lots of questionable blog posts like this for that as well.

Anybody, who wants to buy Xperia Pro, I would suggest go for Cash on delivery, so that you will have to pay once you get the phone ion your hand.

    (April 8, 2011 - 10:43 pm)

i guess it was infibeam only who incorrectly and prematurely announced nexus s for 24k

why would any company launch better phone for lesser price??

Either its done by mistake or they doing late april fool stunt
either ways you are not getting pro for 15k

    Nishant

    (April 8, 2011 - 10:41 pm)

Guys, even I’m out to buy an Android right now, and my friend suggested this. However as it’s launched nowhere else in India, this does seem a bit too good to be true. I trust infibeam coz I’ve purchased iPod and books earlier, but this might be a different thing. Please do share your experience here so I can decide to move on with the purchase as well. Thanks!

Dude! Are you freakin’ kidding me? 15k for the PRO? It’s almost too good to believe. I sent em a mail, lesse. If it’s there, the heck, I’m ordering one ASAP. There never was a sweeter deal in like ages. I wonder if there’s a catch, can you do a background check on these guys?

What do you think? Should I go in for it? Can you check with SE India if they’d provide support for it?
