Google announces 2.0 update for Google TV, roll-out starts next week

Google has finally announced the much awaited Honeycomb update for Google TV devices today. The new update, which is also known as Google TV 2.0 comes with Android Market support, using which consumers will be able to download compatible apps on their respective Google TV devices.

Google has revealed that Sony devices will be first to get the update starting early next week followed by Logitech Revue. Company has also announced that it will be launching more software update and newer hardware.

Google TV 2.0 Features:

  • Simpler User Interface:  Customizable home screen along with all apps menu similar to phones/tablets
  • Better content visibility: Improved search across the board for content from Live TV, Netflix, YouTube, HBO GO, and more.
  • Improved Youtube experience:  A new YouTube experience specifically built for Google TV.
  • Android Market support with more apps: No need to explain this one.
