Google Chairman Eric Schmidt has finished his goodwill Asia tour and on the last leg of his tour today, he mentioned that Google will continue to offer support to Android manufacturers in patent related lawsuits.
This statement came during his first visit to Taipei on Wednesday as Google is trying to cement its relationship with Taiwanese manufacturers so that they don’t side with Microsoft for Windows 8 products in order to stop their reliance on Android and Google.
“We tell our partners, including the ones here in Taiwan, we will support them. For example we have been supporting HTC in its dispute with Apple because we think that the Apple thing is not correct,” Schmidt told media.
Several Android device manufacturing are already in patent litigation with either Microsoft or Apple for the patents used in Android. Google is ready to give access to its patent portfolio for licensing as well as litigation matters.
