Huawei releases Ideos X5 Gingerbread update

Huawei has released the final version of Android 2.3 update for Ideos X5 users today. This update follows up the earlier released beta build for the smartphone. Company has asked the beta update users to apply this update as soon as possible as the beta software might create issues that won’t be covered in the warranty.

    Update is definitely worthwhile.
    Battery performance is much better.
    Wifi tethering works fine.
Unlock feature has four options (> unlock, ^ phone, < message,v camara).
Volume buttons unlock feature has been disabled…
Furthermore the User Interface has been approved slightly (gingerbread).
Last but not least, some pre-installed (demo) X5 apps are luckily gone and won't draw the battery empty!

In my case I had to add the APN manually to have internet.
Please lookup these settings for your provider.

Update can be performed from the build-in internal 2gB SD-Card.
Just create a dload directory and put the file in.
See pdf file for further instructions!

Company has asked its beta update users to install this new update as soon as possible as if any issue created because of beta would not be covered under warranty………
