Google to enter tablet market with 7-inch form-factor

Mock-up

CNET is claiming that Google might go in production with its 7 inch self-branded tablet this April. Publication is quoting a DisplaySearch analyst for this piece of news. According to it, this Google branded tablet will feature a 7 inch 1280x800p resolution display.
The report further states that Google is looking at the initial production run of 1.5 to 2 million units for this Ice Cream Sandwich tablet.

This is not the first time we are hearing about Google’s alleged hardware plan, there was a report back in December 2011, when Eric Schimdt was reportedly quoted telling an Italian publication that Google is planning to launch a tablet of highest quality in next six months; then we saw another report by rumor king Digitimes suggesting a $199 Nexus tablet release by April.

Google has as usual not commented on any of these reports, so there is no way to get any confirmation right now. We will have to wait and watch.

If the tablet is as good as the latest Google Nexus LTE, it will be pure awesomeness. My hope is that battery life is better. I find it hard to believe it will be under $200.

finally a tablet (if it does exist) with 100% pure android. no crapwares, no bloat UI changes, no tension about locked bootloader stuff or running after DEVs to have latest OS. nice 🙂

This is in line with rumor that Google will launch a tablet specific android iteration (maybe JellyBeans) sometime in the summers. interesting..
