Samsung has launched its flagship smartphone Galaxy S III yesterday at an exorbitantly high price tag of Rs. 43,160. Although company claims that the price tag is justified, we are a little skeptic.

The smartphone is a direct competitor to HTC One X, which offers similar features and carries a lower maximum retail price – Rs 37,999.

What do you guys think about the pricing and which one will you choose? Express your opinion in the comments.

Just to get you started:

In favour of Galaxy S III:

Better set of software customizations and add-on features like S-Voice, S-Beam, and Smart Stay etc.

In favour of One X:

Better look and feel

  1. No..It’s price is too high for the specs. I was waiting long for this device, but first thing disappointed me was the design. Still I was considering this to buy. But now after seeing the price tag…no…not interested any more.

  2. Well the One X is retailing for 36K and the SGS3 is selling for 37.8K here in Mumbai with their bills and original warranties.

    1. I just spoke with a retailer and he informs me that HTC is also upping their prices to match the dollar rate going up. He says the approx price of the HTC one X will be around 39K. So if any of you planning to get a One X, get it now and save a couple of thousands.

  3. S3 is better in software? seriously? yes Sense is bloatware but S voice or whatever S blah blah blah is bundled with S3 have very less use except the the that unlocks the mobile when you look at the screen but that means camera will be always on. device will be always awake. battery will be always draining. period.

    1. Even with the battery draining all the time, the S3 lasts on average almost 2 to 3 hours more than the one x.

Wouldn’t you like to be able to do more with your phone while getting more battery life at the same time?

  4. If you can do an article comparing these two also any alternatives …
Will help a lot to choose wisely !!!!

  5. Hello All,

I am having samsung galaxy s2 and i’ve checked galaxy s3 yesterday at croma store, and this is what i think,
    1) i dont think that you will able to fill more difference between processor. Ya S3 is faster but the difference is in nanoseconds.
    2) In S3 there are features like S-Voice, S-Beam, and Smart Stay etc. but who is gonna use this in day-to-day life? indian people will always start to look at new gadgets after 1 month of any gadgets, and in this fast technology generation there are some companies are waiting to release more powerful gadgets than this..

i say if you are having normal use of mobile than, you should not go for S3 or One X. both are waste of money and not needed at all on this prices..

    1. i think u got it all wrong, this is clash of titans
a split of second of difference is important and one must decide how much should we pay extra for that.
and if we think next month i will get a better gadget or phone we will not able to buy one
and for u i think galaxy y or galaxy pop will be the better phone

  6. if u have s2/note no need to go for s3…or if u have o2 yr old phone …u can go for it (its 38k in stores now)

its not a big thing to buy a top end phone , its is how u use it….know ur usage

  7. am not saying sams s3 the best ….look at the htc one x 1800amp battery, 1080p video with only 19fps (check youtube), screen problem/ over heating 55 C degrees..

mainly update cycle of htc look st sensation ,desire hd ICS too late for phones but sams ics better..

some say htc has valued sense…but sams has bloatware that doesnt slow down android experience..but htc sense loads on OS itself…

if u want a futureproof phone got for s3….htc one x lags in few points…

  8. I’m totally agree with Haresh Gulvani. I also have Galaxy SII and would not like to move/favour to SIII or One X because of the features offered are rarely useful while compared to the offered cost. SII is more than enough in performance.

  9. Quad core..??
whats the use of this actualy…??
    quad core drains more battery…
Remember A dual Core processor can handle all avalable android hd games and apps smoothly without any lag…
So dont waster ur money on a quad core..
Go for HTC One S or Galaxy S2…Its enough to fulfill all ur requirments for sure…

  10. HTC One X because form (external casing) and feel are of that much importance to me despite the One x lagging behind the SIII in performance, features and benchmarks. HTC has set a different benchmark altogether for the intricate detailed focus on material and ergonomics and SIII is not even close to this standard. I wonder why Samsung takes this aspect so lightly.

  11. just bought s3 from samsung shop for 39,900. even samsung estore offers at 42,500 along with free stuff worth 2000… so the price you mentioned is clearly wrong

    1. If you have a S3 or OneX you will know what you have been missing with an iPhone 🙂

  12. What a ugly piece of device(plastic) from washing machine company. I have very bitter experience with their early plastic phones. Yes sure i will go for HTC One X better sexy design and if we talk abt the performance its on the upper hand. Someone is saying here abt sense of HTC its cool breeze in hot summer as compare to touch viz of samsung. My dear friends u must go for One x and believe me never regret. It have the same feature which galaxy have.

    1. It only has a plastic back. Here are the advantages of a plastic back:
      – makes the phone lighter
      – makes the phone thinner
      – doesn’t get scratched
      – improves antenna performance
      – improves grip (if there is matte finish like s2)
      disadvantages:
      – some people think it looks cheap.

I think i’ll choose practicality over looks..

  13. here in india we should must consider currency factor. at the launch of S2 dollar was around 46 but now it is 56 . more than 20 % increase in last year

    1. i already have iphone 4s as my main phone..i wanna try s3 as second phone lol

  14. offcourse the price tag will put u off… as samsung is famous for overpricing their product at launch; after some time it will get lower… othervise they have to price SGS-IV arond 60k… 😛
anyway, samsung product are plasticy for sure but great on performance than others competetors…

All these high end phones are great and worth every penny you spend… on the other hand none of them is perfect… so any phone u choose ur not gonna regret for sure… 😉

  15. 43k is clearly the MRP of the device… It’s MOP is around 38k, and you will be able to buy it for 35k in just a month….
The same was the case with Galaxy S II.. I bought it directly from a distributor for about 3k less than the MOP…
And at 35 – 38k, It easily bests the HTC One X…. Tegra 3 is no match for Exynos Processor… Only the SnapDragon S4 are a better series of chips (used in HTC One S; But not that gr8 a phone spec wise), as they are based on 28nm platform….

  16. Both are the best Android Super Smart Phones currently

    Samsung GS3 Advantage –

    i) Better set of software
    2) Battery life
    3) Super Amoled HD screen
    4) Micro SD card slot
    5) Support to usual sim cards (not micro sim cards)

    HTC One X Advantage –

    i) Better Looks
    2) Sense UI
    3) Camera app which can take stills during video recording
    4) Price less then SGS3
