HTC is reportedly planning to launch a new mid-level Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone code-named Proto very soon.
According to a report in Stuff, the smartphone will come with 1GHz dual core processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB of user accessible internal storage and 4-inch WVGA display.
It will be running on Android 4.0 with Sense 4.0 on-board. Other specifications include 114 gram weight, 9.3mm thickness, 1,650mAh battery, a microSIM card, microSD slot, Beats Audio, Bluetooth, and 5MP rear camera with LED flash.
Separately, we have learnt from credible sources that HTC is planning to launch a Desire series smartphone next week and it is very possible that we see Proto being launched under the Desire moniker.
Company has already launched two Desire series smartphones this year – Desire V and Desire C, both are running on ICS and cater to two very important segments – dual-SIM users and budget buyers and if priced correctly, this upcoming Desire model can also become a very good contender for a decent mid-range device.
