No Ice Cream Sandwich update for Desire HD; One S and X to get Jelly Bean

HTC India has confirmed on its official Facebook page that there will be no Android 4.0 update for Desire HD after all. There was a lot of confusion regarding the update in the last few days and it has finally cleared up on a sad note.

Consumers across the board were very happy when HTC announced earlier in the year that it will be bringing the Ice Cream Sandwich for Desire HD as well along with other smartphones like HTC Desire S, Sensation etc.

But, it seems the testing did not go as planned and company has concluded that Desire HD has the best software experience on the current version, which is Gingerbread.

Here is company’s full statement:

After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers.

In the other news:

HTC has also announced that it will be releasing the Jelly Bean update for HTC One X (and its variants) and HTC One S (and its variants).

The announcement does not come as a surprise considering the phones were launched with Ice Cream Sandwich on-board and company’s flagship devices.

Here is company’s statement regarding the Jelly Bean update:

“We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google’s latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean.”

Well I guess its better for the customers if the ICS doesn’t run well on the desire. It was probably laggy and just didn’t feel right. However HTC probably should’ve tried to run run some tests before they announced they were going to bring the ICS to the desire. The false hope is what is angering the customers, and if they had never said anything about the phone it would have been fine.

HTC has released One S with the ‘lesser’ version than the one released abroad in terms of CPU. But it is good news that it’ll at least get Jelly Bean.

Hugely dissapointed by this reply from HTC. After giving fake hope for months, they simply say that they wont give the update.
