Amazon’s one of the top-selling products, the Kindle Fire has completely been sold out. The announcement comes with just a week left for Amazon’s press event, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
Rumour has it that the company will be unveiling a new version of the Kindle tablet (or may be a smartphone?) at the September 6 press conference. Amazon raved about the tablet’s success mentioning that since its inception, nine months back, the Kindle Fire has captured 22% of the US tablet market.
The original Kindle Fire was powered by Android 2.3 with access to company’s Appstore for Android. It was one of first Android tablet to get a chunk of market share.
Commenting on the company’s success, Amazon.com Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos said, “We’re grateful to the millions of customers who have made Kindle Fire the most successful product launch in the history of Amazon,” saidJeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO. “This has been a big year for digital products on Amazon—all of the top 10 sellers on Amazon.com since Kindle Fire launched just less than a year ago are digital products. Kindle Fire is sold out, but we have an exciting roadmap ahead—we will continue to offer our customers the best hardware, the best prices, the best customer service, the best cross-platform interoperability, and the best content ecosystem.”
These are exciting times for the online retailer as it competes with the likes of Google’s Nexus 7 and Apple’s much-hyped iPad Mini.
