Thanks to all the leaks and announcements, It is pretty much official that LG is going to announce its second quad-core smartphone (codenamed LG Optimus G) at IFA trade fair. Powered by Qualcomm’s S4 Pro processor, company is dubbing it as the second-gen quad-core device, offering better performance than so-called “the first-gen” NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processors.

After issuing a teaser video (in Korean) few days ago, company has issued an press release today, talking about how it has worked with its sister companies LG Chem, LG Display and LG Innotek to make the “Most Technologically Advanced Device to Date”.

Well, we are not sure if it’s really is that advanced, will have to wait for the release to find out that part. But, considering how the company stepped up its game with Optimus 4X HD, we are really looking forward to Optimus G.

LG Optimus 4X HD was the Korean manufacturer’s best Android device till date and hope that it takes that to a whole new level in this upcoming smartphone.

Coming back to the specifics shared in today’s press release, LG says that the upcoming device will not only offer blazing fast performance but also longer battery life, thinner profile, brighter display and a new touchscreen panel technology as a result of the vertically-integrated development process.

How LG’s different sister companies has contributed to this phone (in company’s words):

LG Display: LG Display’s True HD IPS+ Display (used in the upcoming phone) is sharper than today’s AMOLED displays due to its high pixel density of 320ppi (1280×768 pixels) and Stripe RGB IPS Panel. The new display is capable of generating 470 nits of brightness while consuming 70 percent less power compared when displaying a white background. Furthermore, True HD IPS+ Display does not suffer from screen burn-in as AMOLED displays have been known to do.

LG Innotek:  LG Innotek developed the G2 Touch Hybrid Display, which is a unibody unit that eliminates the gap between the glass and the LCD panel as found in traditional touchscreens. As a result, the thickness of LG Innotek’s touchscreen panel was reduced by 30 percent.

LG Chem: LG Chem developed a new battery that offers greater energy capacity without compromising on size and weight. Standard mobile phone batteries have a lifespan of 500 charges but the battery that was developed for the new flagship smartphone provides more power than other similarly-sized batteries by running 60 percent more efficiently. The new battery has a lifespan of 800 cycles, a first for a mobile device.

According to the leaks till now, LG Optimus G will feature 4.7-inch True HD IPS+ display with 1280x768p resolution, 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel camera and Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. It will go on sale next month in South Korea, followed by global availability.
