Google Calendar app lands in Google Play

Until available on stock Android devices and select other devices, the Google Calendar app has now landed in Google Play. Chances are you might have used this app some or the other time, unless you were you were stuck Samsung’s Touchwizzed devices with S-Planner, or other OEM phone, which remove Google Calendar to add their own crappy versions.

But now, despite your OEM customisations, you can get the Goole Calendar app, because it has landed in Google Play. However, there is a little condition; you will need a tablet or phone running on Android 4.0.3 to use this app.

Here is a quick look at the features:

  • Basics such as creating, editing, deleting events and responding to invitations
  • Snooze events directly from a notification if you’re not quite ready and want to be reminded later.
  • Use predefined messages to send quick “I’ll be late” updates to your event participants directly from the notifications or the event itself.
  • Pinch to zoom in and out of a day.
  • Set a home time zone to help you manage your time better when traveling.
  • Manage all your calendars in one place

HTC devices might have some issues with this app like the following; we hope Google gets them fixed soon.

  • Day and week views may not work on some HTC devices.
  • Notes and pictures may be removed from all calendar events, but will still be available in HTC’s Notes app.
  • Local unsynced events may be lost after installing Google Calendar.
  • Notifications won’t make sounds unless HTC’s Calendar app is disabled.
  • Touching an email invitation in a mail app opens Calendar in the browser rather than the app.

You can get the download from here.
