HTC has started rolling out Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean update as well as Sense 4+ update in the Indian market for the One X users. The update is being pushed in two parts – one is a smaller update, which makes your phone ready for Jelly Bean and the other update brings the Jelly Bean goodness.

The first part of the update is 1.25 MB in size, while the main Jelly Bean update is 357 MB.

You will have to manually check for the update in Settings>> About Phone >> Software to initiate the process.

HTC had started the Jelly Bean update roll-out in Asia about a month ago and is slowly reaching other countries.

Update details:

Jelly Bean brings improved notifications, Google Now, improved Calendar and browser, more camera functionality, and several other features.  On the other hand, HTC Sense 4+ will come with new Gallery app now acts as a hub for all photo related apps, video hub, HTC Get Started, and a new Tap and Go function, which allows you to connect the phone and your music to Beats speakers when you tap them.

The update for Indian version also adds support for Punjabi, Oriya, Malayalam, Kannada languages.

Thanks Anuj, Sunil, Sudhanshu and Rajneet

  1. Update is very smooth as expected , audio performance is increased but Google now has no voice feedback.
    Keyboard is amazing now .

  2. 4.1.1 update was smooth, but after updation I m not able to find “Connect to PC” option.

When connecting to pc using cable, there is no option visible like charge only disk drive and all.. 🙁

    1. Not so sure, but the sync and disk drive modes work at the same time I believe. No need to choose between modes. They have removed those options for good…

    2. HTC has switched over to the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). Device will no longer mount as a drive…will show up as portable device in “My Computer”. Seems clunky but has some advantages:
      1. Can copy files over and then access on them on the device without mounting/unmounting
      2. Can access the device on the comp and on the phone at the same time when connect to the comp. (Recall previously had to eject the drive and phone would prepare the internal storage before you could access it)
      3. File transfer is available immediately when plugged in without having to mount
      4. Previously the internal storage does not show up in Windows until the phone is unlocked

  3. @manik-change system language to English(USA) for enable voice feedback in Googlenow…settings>language & keyboard>system language>English(United states)
@gourav-we got update very fast because India is the 1st country in the world
