Acer’s $99 tablet plans further confirmed by a WSJ report

Remember, we told you about Acer’s upcoming Iconia B1 tablet, which is rumoured to cost $99. Well, now Wall Street Journal has also published a report, claiming the same. Citing a person in direct knowledge of the project, WSJ writes that the Taiwanese maker will release the tablet early next year.

The Journal’s report also contains an important tidbit that the Iconia B1 is aimed at emerging markets, similar to what we have heard about Google’s cheaper Nexus tablet that is also rumoured to arrive early next year.acer-iconia-b1-jpg

The press shots of the Iconia B1 tablet, which were published by us from a Serbian forum recently, seems have been confirmed as authentic by WSJ’s source.

Asus, meanwhile, has told Journal that company is not making a $100 tablet and declined to comment further on its product pipeline.

The Acer Iconia B1, which is expected to be announced at CES 2013, is rumoured to feature 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek processor, Jelly Bean, 7-inch 1024x600p display, 512MB RAM, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
