Polaroid CEO confirms plans for interchangeable lens Android camera


Remember, the mirrorless interchangeable lens Android camera that was leaked couple of days ago. Well, it is the real deal. Polaroid CEO and President Scott Hardy has reportedly told Imaging Resource that his company will be introducing the camera at CES 2013.

“There will be an Android powered, interchangeable lens camera introduced by Polaroid at CES 2013,” he said.

According to a previous report, the Polaroid smart camera will be dubbed as IM1836 and will come with Android 4.0, 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD, 18.1MP resolution sensor, pop-up flash, Wi-Fi connectivity, a microSD card slot, headphone and HDMI outputs, and HD video recording.

Being manufactured in partnership with Sakar International, the camera looks very similar to the mirrorless Nikon 1 J2.

Earlier, Polaroid had announced another Android powered camera at CES2012, but the device never reached market.  Dubbed as SC1630, it featured 36-108mm lens, 16MP sensor with 3X optical zoom, 3.2inch display, Wi-Fi and Android.
