Micromax has announced the latest Canvas series smartphone today and it is called A116 Canvas HD unlike the rumours of Canvas 3. Packing a MediaTek 6589 quad-core processor, it will go on sale starting the first week of next month (i.e. February). Company has revealed that it wants to price A116 Canvas HD under INR 15K, which will surely make it an instant hit.
We thought it was time that we compared Micromax A116 with previous iteration of Canvas smartphones from Micromax.
Micromax A116 is significant improvement over the previous versions, considering that it packs a 720p display, quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. Canvas 1 and Canvas only have 512MB RAM, single and dual core processors respectively and WVGA resolution displays.
The presence of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is another positive for A116 over A110, A100, both of which currently run on Android 4.0 without any news on the upgrades.
Other specifications are pretty much same other Canvas smartphones apart from odd upgrades like 2100 mAh battery or same dual-SIM connectivity.
Here is a quick specs comparison of the A116 Canvas HD and A110 Canvas 2 smartphone as original Canvas is irrelevant right now.

Actually I was expecting the same Canvas 2 with a subtle upgrade – 1GB RAM, Jelly Bean, 2500 mah battery and the same dual core processor priced at 11k. I personally wouldn’t shell out 15k for just the Quadcore craze as it’s an overkill and too early to support any content on Play Store. Micromax! Please don’t kill Canvas 2 as it’s still got immense potential to sell.

Brand like Micromax should not price products more than 12000 else it will not be competitive enough.
canvas A116 HD should be around Rs. 11000 – 12000, then only it can beat the others company…..
I have used Canvas2 A110 and it is really awesome in such price. Samsung and HTC are charging for the brand only. But the New Canvas HD should be priced arround 12-12.5 thousand not more than that else will loose it popularity. Believe me if Canvas2 A110 is for 9999 than new Canvas HD must nt be priced beyond 12 thousand.
I agree with all, Micromax A116 Canvas should not exceed 11k or a max of 11.5K or else people will look for other brands most likely Samsung and for sure if labelled more than that ,then its market is going to drop by 80%.
Canvas 2 is a great superphone but when we compare with Canvas HD A116 then A116 is much better.
If the prize of A116 will down to around 12 to 12.5 thosand then this phone will sell more than Samsung S3 and Note series.
If prize exceeds then people may attract to buy samsung rather than micromax.
Once 116 is launched , price for 110 should drop to 7K and 116 should be priced at 9 – 10K , then only micromax can retain marked … these are standard mobile mkt dynamics
Within one month of launch above trend will follow………………. enjoy time reaching fast…………

canvas 2 is great phone in lower price. Canvas 116 also great but its price is unefortable….
