LG has announced that it has sold one million units of its flagship smartphone Optimus G since the launch last year. The smartphone, which was launched in September, has reached this milestone in around four months.

LG Optimus G is one of most interesting smartphones to come from the Korean manufacturer in the recent times. LG Mobile took the best of technologies from its subsidiaries like LG Display, LG Innoteck and LG Chem and merged them in a single smartphone. The smartphone and its concept were so-liked by Google that they even made it the base of the latest Nexus phone – Nexus 4.  Thanks to all this, despite being available only in four countries, Optimus G has been able to reach this milestone in a decent time interval.

LG also revealed that it plans to release Optimus G in China and several European countries this quarter.  The company is going to announce the Q4 earnings on January 30th and we will able to get a more clear idea of the Optimus G sales at the earnings call.

In related news, we are already hearing about the rumours of Optimus G Pro, a successor to Optimus G. G Pro is likely to be announced at MWC, but we don’t see it coming to Europe or Asian countries apart from Korea and Japan, before the end of H1, 2013.
