LG India has officially launched Optimus G smartphone in India today. The smartphone has been priced at INR 34,500 (MRP); however we have already seen online stores selling the phone for as cheap as INR 30,990, which is likely to be the street price of this LG flagship Android phone.
Originally announced last year, LG Optimus was initially only available in select countries globally. The Korean manufacturer started the broad global roll-out last month itself.
The version of LG Optimus G smartphone being launched in India runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box. The phone also comes with 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. There is no microSD card slot on the phone.
For the imaging needs, the smartphone packs 13MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera.
“’LG Optimus G meets the growing consumer demand by offering ample features like 13MP rear camera, dual screen/dual play, QSlide, quick translator and NFC,” said Soon Kwon, President South West Asia Region & MD, LG India.
Optimus G, which was also the base for Google Nexus 4 phone, has already clocked over a million unit sales, as per the figure given by LG in January 2013.
LG Optimus G will be competing with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X+, and HTC Butterfly smartphones in the country.
