Samsung Galaxy Note 800 getting Android 4.1.2 update in India

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.1.2 update to Galaxy Note 800 aka Note 10.1 users in India. The update is now available via Kies as well as over-the-air download.

The update is 147MB in size and brings multi-window support for Chrome and Gmail, better word prediction in default keyboard and other goodies. However, multiple users are reporting that the current update has removed the S-Pen settings from their settings panel on the tablet. Even S-Pen shortcuts are not appearing after the update. There is no change-log available right now, but we are actively tracking it and will update the post if we find it.

As always, the updates are rolled-out in batches and if you might not get it right-away but it will come to your Note 800. You can also check it manually by going to Settings<<About Device<<Software Update.

Update Details:

Android version: Android 4.1.2

Baseband version: N8000DDUCMA2

Build number: JZ054K

To remind you, Samsung India had released the Android 4.1.1 update for Note 800 users in the country just over a month ago.

Thanks Pravin

Got a small update (~18 Mb) today, and the S Pen settings and shortcuts are back!

Also, one improvement I noticed is that s-pen sensitivity in s-note has come back to what it was before the 4.1.1 update. When I used to dot my i in 4.0.4, it was ok. then the sensitivity decreased in 4.1.1 and you had to make the dot a bit of a dash. But now it is restored.

One thing I do hope they bring back in a future update is the screen capture edit, which used to be there in 4.0.4. it used to open in a dual window, allow you to edit and then drag across to another application. it’s no longer as user friendly anymore and the edited screen capture does not go to your clipboard (so you have to find and insert as picture from some deep folder)!

Yes, I can confirm that after update the s-pen settings are no longer available. I never used the s-pen shortcut bar, so can’t say about that, but it seems that all settings I enabled before the update still work. Quick command menu can still be accessed by pen press and upward stroke.
