Sony Xperia J getting Jelly Bean update

Reports are coming in from several countries that Sony has started rolling out Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Xperia J owners. The update is now available via PC Companion Software and Sony Update Service tool.

Some users from India are also reporting the update roll-out, but we are still not sure about the wider availability.  If you have received the update, do let us know in comments.xperia-j-update

There has been no official statement from Sony regarding the update, but if it is indeed an official release, we expect to hear from the company soon.

The update is expected to bring Project Butter improvements, enhanced widgets, improved notifications, and more to the smartphones. The users, who have received the update till now, seem to be surprised to see Google Now missing from the phone, but you can always download the updated Google Search app from Google Play to get Google Now.

Originally announced at IFA 2012, Sony Xperia J was released in India in October last year. The phone comes with 1GHz processor, 4-inch 854x480p display, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
