Within hours of being spotted online, Micromax A72 Canvas Viva smartphone is now available online in the country. Carrying a price-tag of INR 6,999, it has been priced much-higher than we were expecting. Apart from the 5-inch display on the phone, there is hardly anything that is going to excite the consumers.
Micromax Canvas Viva packs just 256MB of RAM. There is no 3G connectivity, so you get only 2G Edge support on both the SIM cards in the phone. Even the Android version pre-loaded on this phablet is outdated, as neither ICS nor Jelly Bean would be able to function properly in such low amount of RAM.
Among other features, the phone packs a single core 1GHz processor, 110MB of internal storage with microSD card slot. On the imaging front, there is a 3MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera. Micromax A72 also packs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but there is no GPS.
By pricing the phone considerably high, Micromax has made it easy for the consumers. If they wish to purchase a budget phablet, they can just spend extra 2-3K and choose from many of the better devices including Micromax’s A110 or A101 phones. Various other manufacturers too have interesting devices in this price-bracket.

Pathetic phone.
These Indian OEM’s doing more harm to India than the likes of Samsung, Nokia.
These companies has no manufacturing units, no R&D. They just buy these phones in China, rebrand them and sell it here. Their after sales support also pathetic.
At least Nokia and Samsung make some of their phones here which creates many jobs and helps Indian economy.
Those were all the good things we had to say about the phone, for the other specs are pretty low end. The phone packs a 1GHz single core processor along with a measly 256MB RAM.
Very disappointing specs at a very exorbitant price. Not as expexted from a company like Micromax. Better phones are expected.
Micromax is just trying to play spoilsport and nothing else. It is like taking advantage of India’s low buying power.
I think they wanted to reap as much as they can during this period. They know that they can be thrown out anytime if any of the established company will start playing like them.
Just filling the stores with low cost mobiles will not run for long. People are getting smarter day by day and they will come to know the value given by branded companies. I know many people who bought Micromax but later felt sorry for buying it.
Still there are oppurtunities for Micromax to start giving quality products and make their own brand value. BUY THE TRUST AND PEOPLE WILL BUY YOUR PRODUCTS.
