Sony announces Jelly Bean update for Xperia Tablet S, goes live tomorrow

Sony has announced that it will start rolling out the Android 4.1 for its Xperia Tablet S tomorrow i.e. April 18. The company noted in its support forums that the current update release is valid for the United States, Canada, and Latin America Region. Other regions should get the update in the coming weeks, but Sony is yet to reveal a schedule.

“We are pleased to announce the release of the Jelly Bean update for the Xperia Update which will be pushed out to our production server on April 18th 2013 between 9am – 10am pacific standard time,” Sony stated.

If you own a Sony Xperia Tablet S (not Sony Tablet S), you device will show a notification on the bottom left hand corner that a System Update is available, as and when the update is released.  You can choose to download and install it right-away or can delay it.

Sony has not posted a full change-log at the moment and it will be released along with the update tomorrow. We can however expect to see Project Butter improvements, enhanced notifications, new versions of Sony media apps, better widgets and new UI.
