Google has announced today at the Google I/O keynote that over 900 million Android devices have been activated till date. This is not all; Google has also revealed that these 900 million users have installed over 48 billion Android apps till date.
Of these 48 billion apps, 2.5 billion were installed in the last month itself.
To put these numbers in perspective, there were 400 million activated Android devices last year, so in the last one year, over 500 million devices have been activated. On the apps front, Google had shared the 25 billion app installs number in September 2012, meaning in the last eight months, over 23 billion Android applications have been installed. At this rate, Android will soon overtake the Apple’s 50 billion app installs.
Want more numbers, Google also announced that it paid out more money to the Google Play developers in the past 4 months than all of last year. According to the company, the revenue per user has also more than doubled since last year – great time to be an app developer right?
