Sony CEO Kaz Hirai revealed at D11 conference that their flagship Xperia Z smartphone will soon be released in the United States in partnership with a telecom operator. Although, there is no word on which telecom carrier will be getting Xperia Z, some leaked Xperia Z images with T-Mobile branding has been floating around for some time.
“We will make an announcement about the Xperia Z with a carrier very shortly,” said Hirai.
To remind you, Sony already sells the unlocked version of Xperia ZL smartphone in the country, which packs same specs as Xperia Z but in a different chassis that is not water/ dust proof or beautiful like Xperia Z.
Hirai also noted that Sony Xperia Z has been the top-selling smartphone for six straight weeks in Sony’s home country Japan. “It’s literally a feat,” he said.
To recap Sony Xperia Z specifications, the smartphone packs 5-inch 1080p display, 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera and Android 4.1.
