But, the July availability is not the important part of Digitimes’ latest report. The site claims that the 16GB version of Nexus 7 II tablet will be sold at $229, unlike the rumoured $199 pricing.
Digitimes’ supply chain sources indicate Google want to price the tablet at $229 to avoid competing directly against entry-level tablets. We have seen Asus, Acer, Hisense and other companies jumping in $100-$200 price-bracket with their budget tablets and looks like Google wants to stay away from them.
Considering the rumoured specifications, even the $229 pricing is great and it is important to note here that the original Nexus 7 16GB version was priced at $249 at launch, and the pricing was later reduced to $199 when Google discontinued 8GB version, so in a way, $229 pricing is actually less than last year.
No other details are currently available about second-generation Nexus 7 tablet and we will let you guys know as soon as something new appears.
