Barnes & Noble further reduces Nook HD tablet prices in UK

After Barnes & Noble’s recent decision Nook HD

The company is using the upcoming Get Reading festival as a cover, but it is clear that it is a fire-sale.

The company’s Nook HD will now sell at just £99 (8GB) and £129 (16GB), while the 9-inch NOOK HD+ tablet is available starting at £149 (16GB) and £179 (32GB).  The reduced prices are valid at Nook.co.uk as well as other major retailers in the country.

“To celebrate the free Get Reading festival and to help make digital reading more affordable across the UK, we have reduced prices on our award-winning NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ tablets for a limited time,” said Jim Hilt of Barnes & Noble in a press note.

To remind you, Nook HD tablets come with high-res display, dual-core processor and custom version of Android with access to Google Play store.  According to B&N, the price-cuts are valid for a limited time but we think the company will most likely extend the promotion.

The latest round of price-cuts comes just two months after the company has originally reduced the price of these tablets to £159 and £229. The tablet also selling at reduced prices in US but we wouldn’t be surprised if the company issued another price cut in US.

Here is a look at the key specs of Nook tablets:

  • Nook HD: 7-Inch 1440x900p display, 1.3GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4470 processor, 1GB RAM, and microSD card slot.
  • Nook HD+: 9-inch 1920x1280p display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot.
