HP has revealed that it wants to get back in the smartphone market and it cannot think of losing out in such an important device segment. A company executive told Press Trust of India on Sunday that HP is working on a smartphone that will offer “differentiated experience” to the consumers.
HP Senior Director Consumer PC and Media Tablets Asia Pacific Yam Su Yin did not reveal much on the company’s smartphone plans. However, Yin explicitly confirmed HP re-entry in smartphone market when asked about if a smartphone is on its way.
“The answer is yes but I cannot give a timetable. It would be silly if we say no. HP has to be in the game,” Yin told PTI.
“Being late you have to create a different set of proposition. There are still things that can be done. It is not late. When HP has a smartphone, it will give a differentiated experience,” she added in reply to question about the lost time.
No specific details are available right now on this HP phone, but given HP’s recent love for Android, it is more than likely that the upcoming HP smartphone will run on Android and we could see the company launch this phone in time for holiday.
