Chromecast getting first software update

Google has revealed that it has started rolling out the first software update to Chromecast TV dongle on Wednesday. This update isn’t a major one but brings performance and stability improvements.chromecast

“Today, we are pushing a bug fix update to Chromecast devices to improve performance, reliability and security. The update will roll out over the next few days and will happen automatically; users do not need to take any action,” noted Ambarish Kenghe, Chromecast Product Manager in a blog post.

As Kenghe states, users don’t need to do anything, the update will automatically get downloaded and installed as soon as it is available for your device.

New Build number: 12840 (Previous update build was 12078)
