NVIDIA has announced that is releasing open-source files, binaries and factory image for Shield portable gaming console. These files can be grabbed from NVIDIA Developer website.
“To assist the Android open source and modding community, NVIDIA has published the required source code and binary packages to create custom OS images for SHIELD. NVIDIA has also made a binary “recovery image” available for users that wish to revert to the factory default image,” the company noted on its developer website.
NVIDIA has also revealed that it will also be sharing the OTA updates files publically on the developer website.
The company has also shared a quick and easy guide to flash the factory image on to Shield and it is very similar to how factory images are flashed to Nexus devices. Read the guide here.
To remind you, NVIDIA Shield went on sale recently and it now available for $300 in the United States.
