Phone also spotted at Chinese certification site
Few days ago we heard via an XDA developer that Sony’s upcoming smartphone Honami (codename) might be dubbed as Xperia Z1 instead of rumoured Xperia i1. Well, we now have something more concrete than his word. A photograph of Sony’s Xperia Honami dummy unit along with Xperia Z and Z Ultra has appeared on a Chinese forum, which clearly shows the smartphone name as Xperia Z1.
This is first confirmation that Honami will be called as Sony Xperia Z1. The smartphone is all set to be announced on Sony’s September 4 press event, where the company is also expected to show two lens cameras that will support Xperia Z1 along with other Sony smartphones.
In related news, Xperia Z1 also made an appeared at Chinese telecom certification site TENAA, which revealed that the phone will weigh 169 grams. It will also be larger (144.0 x 74.0 x 8.5mm) than Xperia Z (139 x 71 x 7.9mm).
To remind you, Sony Xperia Z1 is rumoured to come with 5-inch full HD display, quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, Android 4.2.2, 20.7MP rear camera with Sony G Lens and 2.1MP front camera.
