Sony to launch Xperia C in the Indian market soon

Sources close to Sony India have revealed to us that the next smartphone launch on Sony’s list is Xperia C for the Indian market.  There is no confirmation on the exact release date of Xperia C but we are expecting to see the smartphone around end-of-September or early-October in the country.

Originally announced in June this year, Sony Xperia C is the first MediaTek processor-powered smartphone from the company. It sports a 5-inch qHD display and 1.2GHz quad-core processor.  The phone also comes with 8MP rear camera, Android 4.1 and dual-SIM support.

With the release of Xperia C, Sony plans to take on Samsung’s Galaxy Grand and various budget phablets from local vendors that have flooded the market in the recent months.

Our sources were not able to tell the final pricing of the phone but indicated at an under INR 20,000 price-tag (probably around INR 19,000).

Sony Xperia C key specifications

  • 5-inch qHD display
  • Android 4.1
  • 8MP rear camera, front camera
  • 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot
  • FM Radio
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm audio jack
  • ClearAudio+, Clear bass, Clear Phase, Clear stereo, “WALKMAN” application
  • 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor
  • Dual-SIM support

In related news, Sony launched its flagship Xperia Z1 smartphone in the country today at INR 44,990. The launch was accompanied by the release of Sony’s QX10 and QX100 lens-style cameras, which are now on sale in the country for INR 12,990 and INR 24,990 respectively.

Yes MediaTek. Correct way to gain market in India. At least better than Micromax and other cheap brands! Price is the main factor in Indian market and it is good that Sony understands and play accordingly.
