Acer details its C720 Chromebook, priced at $249

Acer has finally revealed more details about its Haswell-powered Chromebook today. It was originally announced at the recent Intel Developer Forum. Dubbed as Acer C720, it will be available in the coming weeks in United States and select other countries.Acer Chromebook C720

“The Acer C720 is a significant step forward for our highly-acclaimed Acer Chromebook line, as it delivers speedy performance, quick boot times, a matte anti-glare display and a slimmer design that is portable enough for anywhere use,” said Arif Maskatia, chief technology officer, Acer America.

Talking about the specifications, Acer C720 comes with new 1.4GHz Intel Celeron 2955U processor based on Haswell micro-architecture, up to 4GB of RAM, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, 16GB SSD and 11.6-inch ComfyView HD display with a 1366×768 resolution.

The Chromebook also packs HD webcam, one USB 3.0 port as well as a USB 2.0 port, HDMI port and a SD card reader.

According to Acer, the first model in the Acer C720 Series, the C720-2800, is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com and BestBuy.com with 4GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD at $249.99 in the United States. More configurations will be available in the coming weeks.

Update: According to The Next Web, Acer C720 will hit Currys/ PC World in the UK in late October/early November for £199.99. The Chromebook will also be released in Switzerland, Germany, France, Netherlands, Sweden and Finland around the end of October for €249.
