Amazon smartphone rumours return, crazy eye/ head motion-tracking tech in tow

We are yet to see any credible proof of the existence of the rumoured Amazon smartphones but time and again, new rumours appear from some or the other source. The latest bits are coming from TechCrunch and Hacker News.Amazon

According to the new reports, Amazon is working on two phones, one of which will be an inexpensive device, probably like the company’s Kindle Fire tablets but it is the other phone that sounds crazy.

As per the Hacker News poster, the second phone is going to be expensive and come with a 3D UI.

“The screen itself is not 3D, but the front of the phone has 4 cameras placed on each corner of the phone, this is to track the user’s eyes/head and move the UI to give the impression of 3D,” the poster wrote.

If this indeed turns out to be true, the phone will have a total of five cameras include the main rear camera. The 3D UI rumours sans the four cameras part line-up with what Wall Street Journal reported back in May.

TechCrunch adds that there will be another feature in the phone, which will allow consumers to a shot of any real-world object and match it to an Amazon product for purchase.

Both Amazon phones are expected to be released next year but they have been facing constant delaying due to problems with employee retention and other factors.
