Techcrunch is reporting that the much-rumoured Google smartwatch is real and will most probably be arriving in June. Separately, @evleaks has posted that the smartwatch is being manufactured by LG, which has also partnered with Google for Nexus 4 and 5 smartphones.

According to Techcrunch, the smartwatch will come with a plastic band, full colour square display, and Bluetooth 4.0 LE for communicating with the smartphones. There doesn’t seems to be application support at this moment but Google could release an SDK later for developers to build apps for the smartwatch.

Techcrunch writes:

The whole idea behind the watch’s concept is that you shouldn’t have to take out your phone for various ambient alerts, like finding out who’s calling you or who just texted, for example.

Interactions with the watch are very gesture-driven. That is, swiping alerts and tapping to select.

Coming to @evleaks’ claims, the leaker is stating that we could the debut of Google smartwatch at I/O 204, which matches with the June timeline revealed by Techcrunch. Also, Google has often used I/O as the platform to unveil such hardware offerings like Chromecast last year. To remind you, Google I/O 2014 is scheduled for June 25-26.
